Snowden, sobre el arresto de Assange: "Este es un momento oscuro para la libertad de prensa"

Snowden ha criticado la posición de Quito tras haber "invitado" a de la Policía secreta británica a "arrastrar" a Assange fuera de las instalaciones de la Embajada de Ecuador en Londres.

El exempleado de la Agencia de Seguridad Nacional (NSA) Edward Snowden se ha pronunciado este jueves respecto al arresto del fundador de WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, luego de la decisión del Gobierno de Ecuador de retirarle el asilo.

Snowden ha criticado la posición de Quito tras haber "invitado" a de la Policía secreta británica a "arrastrar" a Assange fuera de las instalaciones de la Embajada de Ecuador en Londres. Las imágenes "acabarán en los libros de la historia", ha afirmado a través de Twitter.

"Los críticos de Assange puede estar alegres, pero este es un momento oscuro para la libertad de prensa", asevera el exempleado de la CIA.

Anteriormente, el expresidente de Ecuador, Rafael Correa, arremetió en la red social contra el actual presidente de la república, Lenín Moreno, por la decisión. En un explícito tuit, Correa se refirió a Moreno como "el traidor más grande de la historia ecuatoriana y latinoamericana". "Moreno es un corrupto, pero lo que ha hecho es un crimen que la humanidad jamás olvidará", concluyó.

El pasado martes, Moreno acusó a Assange de haber violado "demasiadas veces" el acuerdo de convivencia para garantizar su permanencia en dicha legación diplomática. Este miércoles fue enviado un reporte sobre el cumplimiento de ese protocolo, que se aplicó a Assange el año pasado luego que se restringiera su a Internet.

Por su parte, Josep Jover, abogado experto en protección de datos y derecho de la UE, aseguró que el arresto de Assange forma parte de "una nueva partida de ajedrez a nivel global" en el que tanto el Reino Unido como Ecuador se están acercando a EE.UU. Según el analista, EE.UU. no tiene amigos, sino intereses, y ahora su interés es "castigar públicamente" al activista.
