Argentina pone en su punto de mira el futuro de la industria del litio

Milei se reunió el lunes con representantes de empresas del sector: una de china y otra canadiense.

El presidente de Argentina, Javier Milei, se reunió el lunes en la Casa Rosada con el CEO de la canadiense Lithium Americas, Sam Piggot, y el de la compañía china Ganfeng Lithium, Wang Xiaoshen, "para discutir el futuro de la industria del litio" en el país, confirmó el Gobierno.

"El diálogo con el presidente de Argentina se centró en fortalecer la cooperación para potenciar al máximo las oportunidades del litio en el país y apoyar la transición global hacia las energías limpias", afirmó la empresa china, cuyos ejecutivos también se reunieron con el ministro de Economía, Luis Caputo, y el jefe de gabinete, Guillermo Francos.

Las dos empresas son socias en el proyecto Cauchari-Olaroz, en la provincia de Jujuy, donde Ganfeng posee el 46,7 %; Lithium Argentina el 44,8 %: mientras que Jujuy Energía y Minería Sociedad del Estado maneja 8,5 % de las instalaciones operadas por la Minera Exar, según recoge un medio especializado Minería y Desarrollo.

Ganfeng Lithium es concesionaria además de los proyectos Pozuelos Pastos Grandes, Incahuasi, Sal de la Puna y Mariana en Salta. En este último, tiene previsto inaugurar en breve una nueva planta de producción de cloruro de litio, en el parque industrial de General Güemes.

Si bien es la primera vez que Milei se reúne con una empresa privada china desde su asunción, el mandatario ha dialogado en varias ocasiones con directivos de empresas mineras para hacerles llegar su interés de impulsar la actividad en el país.
