Estrella de Disney desata fuertes críticas con un video grabado en una playa

La actriz tenía que disculparse públicamente por su actuación en una playa hawaiana declarando "no conocer las leyes".

Un video de poco más de dos minutos, publicado por la exestrella de Disney China Anne McClain, ha desatado una ola de críticas y reacciones en redes sociales y medios locales.

La actriz, de 26 años y conocida por sus papeles en múltiples producciones de Disney como la serie 'A.N.T. Farm' (emitida en español como 'Programa de Talentos'), aparece en la grabación tocando el caparazón de una tortuga marina que descansaba en una playa de la isla de Maui, Hawái.

Aunque el video fue grabado hace dos años, McClain lo compartió este fin de semana en su cuenta de Instagram*.

Pese a que lo eliminó poco después de publicarlo, la grabación ya había superado el medio millón de reproducciones y acumulado miles de comentarios, muchos de los cuales criticaron su insensibilidad cultural y falta de respeto hacia las leyes locales.

En Hawái es ilegal tocar a las tortugas marinas, ya que están protegidas por leyes federales y estatales que buscan garantizar su conservación y bienestar. Las autoridades recomiendan mantener una distancia mínima de tres metros respecto a estos animales y evitar cualquier o físico. Quienes violen estas normas pueden enfrentar multas de hasta 100.000 dólares.

Tras la reacción negativa, McClain emitió una disculpa pública. "No era plenamente consciente de la situación hasta hoy, y desde luego no conocía las leyes", explicó la actriz. Sin embargo, aún no está claro si enfrentará consecuencias legales por sus acciones.
