México: "Entramos en un nuevo sistema comercial en el mundo"

El secretario de Economía, Marcelo Ebrard, hizo la declaración en la conferencia de prensa de la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum.

El secretario de Economía de México, Marcelo Ebrard, destacó este jueves que tras los anuncios de aranceles aplicados por el presidente de EE.UU., Donald Trump, el mundo ha entrado en un "nuevo sistema comercial".

"EE.UU. tiene 14 tratados comerciales de libre comercio, pero en el único caso en el que no se aplicaron tarifas adicionales fue en el TMEC [Tratado entre México, EE.UU. y Canadá]", destacó el funcionario durante una intervención en la acostumbrada rueda de prensa de la presidenta, Claudia Sheinbaum.

Sobre ese punto, aseveró que México ha quedado en una posición preferencial con respecto a otras naciones que sufrirán mayores aranceles, lo que implica una posición de ventaja para negociar en el ámbito comercial: "Hace más sencillo tramitar las cosas desde acá que en otras partes del mundo", apuntó.

"Esta es la realidad que tenemos ahora y vamos a tratar de consolidar esta posición", destacó Ebrard, quien afirmó que la prioridad para el Ejecutivo será "maximizar las ventajas comparativas".

Un gran logro

El secretario destacó que, en medio de la incertidumbre por la guerra comercial, su país ha quedado en mejores condiciones gracias a la "estrategia de la presidenta Sheinbaum".

"En un nuevo orden comercial fundado en tarifas es muy difícil que sobreviva un tratado de libre comercio", puntualizó. En ese sentido, destacó como "un gran logro" que se mantuviera el T-MEC, se protegieran al menos 10 millones de empleos asociados a ese tratado y aclaró que está abierta la línea de diálogo con EE.UU.

Sin embargo, México no va a dejar las negociaciones. Ebrard recalcó que en un mes se celebrará una reunión para definir las tarifas sobre el sistema de autopartes, que ya se han aplicado a otros países y que rondan el 25 %.

"La meta nuestra en los próximos 40 días es lograr las mejores condiciones de entre todos los países del mundo en materia de la industria automotriz. Lo mismo para acero y aluminio", precisó.
