El fundador de Blackwater revela por qué le importa Ecuador

El pasado mes de marzo, el presidente ecuatoriano, Daniel Noboa, anunció una "alianza estratégica" con Prince para "fortalecer" las "capacidades de lucha" de las fuerzas locales contra el narcotráfico.

El fundador de la compañía de seguridad estadounidense Blackwater, Erik Prince, quien se encuentra en Ecuador a instancias de su presidente, Daniel Noboa, para "luchar contra el narcoterrorismo", reveló este lunes que le importa ese país porque "está en el hemisferio occidental".

"Me importa Ecuador, porque Ecuador está en el hemisferio occidental", dijo Prince en declaraciones difundidas por el Ministerio de Defensa del país suramericano. "Me importa ayudar a Ecuador a estabilizarse y hacer retroceder al narco, para que tengan paz y prosperidad aquí", agregó.

La presencia en territorio ecuatoriano del contratista militar —al que se tacha de mercenario— ha levantado revuelo, pues muchos lo consideran un intento de Noboa para apuntalar su campaña de cara a la segunda vuelta de los comicios presidenciales, en la que se juega la reelección.
