Lula: "El planeta no depende de EE.UU."

El mandatario brasileño sostuvo que detrás de las medidas arancelarias de Washington está el empeño de "poner fin al multilateralismo".

El presidente de Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, afirmó este miércoles que el planeta "no depende" de EE.UU., al hablar sobre la guerra arancelaria que el mandatario de ese país, Donald Trump, ha entablado contra sus socios.

"Es importante que la gente se haga respetar. Los EE.UU. son grandes, económicamente los más importantes, bélicamente los más importantes, tecnológicamente muy importantes, pero el planeta no depende de ellos", enfatizó Lula durante la IX Cumbre de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (Celac), celebrada en Honduras.

El mandatario brasileño remarcó además que Trump fue electo para gobernar un único país, que es EE.UU., pero quiere actuar como si pudiera "cuidar el planeta Tierra", y además lo hace "negando" todo lo que se consiguió en los últimos 50 años, como el fin del proteccionismo, el fortalecimiento del libre comercio, la gobernanza y la integración de las economías, entre otras cuestiones.

¿Qué hay detrás de los aranceles?

Lula dijo en la cita que en ese momento se enteraba de la decisión de Trump de elevar a 125 % los aranceles a las importaciones procedentes de China, así como de la pausa de 90 días que dio a su paquete arancelario para decenas de países.

Al respecto, el dignatario brasileño comentó que detrás de esas decisiones de Trump lo que se busca es "poner fin al multilateralismo" e intentar hacer negociaciones individuales, que perjudicarían a las demás naciones.

"Ningún país tiene condiciones para negociar con EE.UU. Será un acuerdo leonino, de un gigante contra un pequeño. Entonces, es preciso que el multilateralismo sea la base de nuestra acción, lo que necesitamos es mejorar nuestra relación, es conversar más, es tratar de ver dónde podemos establecer más acuerdos", enfatizó.

Por ello, Lula llamó a mantener la integración de la Celac, a la que definió como "la cosa más importante" que se ha creado en 500 años de historia de América Latina; así como a recuperar, incluso, la Unión de Naciones Suramericanas (Unasur). "Individualmente no somos nada. Juntos, nosotros somos más fuertes", manifestó.
