Los contribuyentes estadounidenses podrían pagar más de 2.200 millones de dólares por Groenlandia si Trump la comprara, según los registros de ofertas anteriores y el cálculo del aumento del subsidio danés.

El presidente Donald Trump continúa explorando las posibilidades de adquirir la isla de Groenlandia a pesar del rechazo constante por parte de los líderes groenlandeses y daneses. Según las fuentes citadas por Newsweek, los funcionarios de la istración de Trump están considerando ofrecer a Groenlandia un aumento de las subvenciones respecto a las que reciben actualmente por parte del Reino de Dinamarca, que ascienden a 600 millones de dólares al año.

El diario también recalcó que Trump no fue el primer presidente en mostrar interés por adquirir Groenlandia. En 1946 el presidente Harry Truman ofreció a Dinamarca 100 millones de dólares en oro por la isla, lo que, ajustado a la inflación actual, equivaldría a unos 1.600 millones de dólares.

Al sumar el argumento del aumento de las subvenciones junto al ajuste actual de la oferta de Truman, se obtiene que una posible propuesta del Gobierno estadounidense para la compra de Groenlandia podría ascender a más de 2.200 millones de dólares, con pagos regulares cada año.
