El presidente de EE.UU., Donald Trump, arremetió este martes contra el corresponsal de ABC News, Terry Moran, después de que este le preguntara si tiene "un 100 % de confianza" en el jefe del Pentágono, Pete Hegseth.

"¿Tengo un 100 % de confianza en algo? Es una pregunta estúpida. [...] Solo un mentiroso diría que tiene un 100 % de confianza", declaró el mandatario. "No tengo un 100 % de confianza en que vayamos a terminar esta entrevista", subrayó.

Al mismo tiempo, Trump calificó a Hegseth de "un muy buen secretario de Defensa".

En marzo, la revista The Atlantic informó que su redactor en jefe accedió a un chat de Signal en el que varios funcionarios clave del equipo de Trump, incluido el propio Hegseth, discutían los preparativos y primeras etapas de un ataque contra las instalaciones de los hutíes yemeníes. Por su parte, The New York Times reportó en abril que el secretario de Defensa compartió detalles de los ataques programados en el país árabe en otro chat de la aplicación, en el que participaban su esposa, hermano y abogado personal.

A pesar de todas las acusaciones contra Hegseth, la portavoz de la Casa Blanca, Karoline Leavitt, negó que existan planes para reemplazarlo y subrayó que el presidente lo apoya firmemente.
