Video: Venezuela ofrece asilo a Snowden

El presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, anuncia que la República Bolivariana de Venezuela ofrece "asilo humanitario" a Edward Snowden, "para que pueda vivir tranquilo en la patria de Bolívar y de Chávez".

El presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ha declarado que concede asilo al prófugo exempleado de la CIA Edward Snowden. Maduro lo ha anunciado desde el Paseo Los Próceres en la ciudad de Caracas, donde encabezaba un acto cívico-militar en conmemoración de los 202 años de la Declaración de la Independencia de Venezuela el 5 de julio de 1811.

En medio de su discurso Maduro destacó que es necesario proteger a “este joven” que lo que ha hecho es "revelar los oscuros secretos de la CIA". "He decidido ofrecerle asilo humanitario al joven estadounidense Edward Snowden", dijo.

"Yo les anuncio a los gobiernos amigos del mundo que hemos decidido ofrecer esta figura del derecho humanitario internacional para protegerlo de la persecución que se ha desatado del más poderoso imperio del mundo contra un joven que lo que ha hecho es decir la verdad", declaró Maduro.

"Para ser independiente hay que sentirlo. Pero no solo sentirlo, sino ejercer la independencia y la soberanía", declaró Maduro, que calificó a Snowden de "un joven que ha decidido en una actitud de rebeldía decir las verdades del espionaje de los EE.UU contra el mundo".

El asilo humanitario es una práctica que consiste en aceptar a prófugos obligados a abandonar su país de origen debido al peligro que corren por una grave persecución, guerras civiles, catástrofes naturales, etc.

Unas horas antes de que Maduro hiciera esta declaración, el presidente de Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, también confirmó que estaba dispuesto a conceder asilo a Edward Snowden.
